Robert Parsons

Robert Parsons, 60, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died unexpectedly at home on Thursday, May 24. He was the husband of Joyce M. (Carnes) Parsons. Son of the late Harold and Helen (Uminski) Parsons, he was born in Dorchester and raised in Stoughton. He was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1969 and Massasoit Community College. Mr. Parsons was an Airman 1st Class in the U.S. Air Force and a Veteran of the Vietnam Era. He was an accountant for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at Massasoit Community College for 30 years before retiring 8 years ago.

Mr. Parsons was the Chairman of the Stoughton 4th of July Committee for 30 years and the Stoughton Fire Station Sub-Committee. He was a Stoughton Town Meeting Rep. in Precinct 1 for many years. He was a member of the Stoughton Municipal Operations Committee and a founding member of the Mass. Lions All-State Band. He was also a longtime communicant of St. James Parish and a life-member of the VFW Post 1645 in Stoughton.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Parsons is survived by his children, Jonathan H. Parsons and Kimberly L. Parsons. He was the brother of Ronald Parsons of Middleboro, George Parsons of Bridgewater, Thomas, William and James Parsons and Susan Gogos all of AZ and the late Marie Brown. He is also survived by a large extended family.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Wednesday, May 30 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday from 4-8 PM. Interment will take place at Maplewood Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Robert's memory may be made to St. James Youth Ministry, 560 Page St., Stoughton, MA 02072.
