Robert W. Nutter, 86, died at his home surrounded by his family on January 12, 2017. He was the husband of 68 years of Dorothy C. (Patten) Nutter. Born, raised and educated in Brockton, he was a longtime resident of Brockton and moved to Norton 3 years ago to be closer to his family. He was a Veteran of the US Army. Mr. Nutter worked as a mechanic for the City of Brockton in the Water & Sewer Department for many years, retiring at age 65. He loved to tinker and could fix almost anything. He also loved grooming horses and attending horse shows and had a passion for riding his motorcycle. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; George O. Nutter and his longtime girlfriend Claudia Blondell of ME, Linda C. Gomes of OK, Robert M. Nutter and his wife Rosanne of Plymouth, Gary T. Nutter, Rickard J. Nutter and his wife Mary and Dorothy A. Chmielinski and her husband John all of Norton, Robbin E. Mazenkas of NY and Mark S. Nutter and his wife Valerie of Brewster. He was predeceased by his two sons, Richard and Ronald Nutter, and his siblings; Edwin Nutter, Francis Nutter and Louise J. Nutter. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Prayers will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Monday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Donations in Bob's memory may be made to Kindred Hospice, 275 Martine St., Unit 202, Fall River, MA 02723.
