Robert "Bob" Murphy, 73, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton surrounded by his family on Thursday, August 25, 2016. He was the husband of Natalie M. (Lutkus) Murphy for 46 years. Son of the late Arthur R. and Geraldine (Foley) Murphy, he was born in Boston and raised in Hyde Park. Robert was a graduate of Hyde Park High School, Class of 1961. He was an Airman in the U.S. Navy and a Veteran of the Vietnam Era. He resided in Stoughton for the past 46 years. Mr. Murphy was a Trooper with the Massachusetts State Police, retiring as a Homicide Detective working with the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office. He worked for the Massachusetts State Police for 26 years before retiring in 1994. He then worked for the Massachusetts Parole Board for 9 years.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Murphy is survived by his children, Kristin M. Buker and her husband Daniel and Robert A. Murphy and his wife Lucy all of Rockland, as well as his grandchildren, Rachel and Lauren Buker and Olivia and Elizabeth Murphy. He was the brother of Janice A. Aviza of Durham, NH, Virginia M. Murphy of Albuquerque, NM, William J. Murphy of Westborough and the late David G., Paul F. and Richard D. Murphy. He is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Monday from 4-7 PM. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert's memory may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
