Robert P. Murphy, 85, died Sunday, December 9, 2012 at the Southeast Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in Easton after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Emma V. (Kopec) Murphy. Born and raised in Hyde Park, he was a graduate of Hyde Park Schools. He was a resident of Easton for over 33 years. He was a US Navy Veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion in Easton. Mr. Murphy worked as a Construction Foreman for Reynolds Brothers Construction in Canton for over 35 years, retiring 11 years ago. He was a member of Teamsters Local 379. A skilled handyman, in his free time, he enjoyed working in his yard and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Amy S. Simmons of Quincy, Susan Hession of NY and Michael Hession and Gail Battista both of FL. He was the beloved grandfather of Dawn and Cherie Mazzoni and Victoria Battista. He was the great grandfather of Jayson and Claudia Battista, Jackson Mazzoni and Scarlett Goldstein. He was the brother of David Murphy of Hyde Park and Thomas Martini of Stoughton. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert P. Murphy and Johanna (Rohan) Murphy and two brothers.
Funeral Prayers will be offered in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, December 13 at 7 PM. Visiting Hours prior to the prayers from 4-7 PM.
