Robert E. Lothrop, a resident of Stony Brook, NY, died on Sunday, December 5 in a plane crash in Leverett. Son of Lillian J. (Johnston) Lothrop of FL and the late Elmer E. Lothrop, he was born in Brockton, raised in Stoughton and graduated from Brockton Trade School, Class of 1967. He was a resident of Lakeville for 30 years before moving to Stony Brook, NY 2 years ago. Mr. Lothrop was a helicopter pilot for North American Air Charter in Ronkonkoma, NY for over 10 years.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Lothrop is survived by his children, Robert S. Lothrop of Denver, CO and Melissa J. Lothrop of Quincy, as well as his sister, Retha Charette of Wareham. He is also survived by his former wife, Joan A. Capobianco of Lakeville and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Friday, December 10 at 7:30 PM. Visiting Hours prior from 4-7:30 PM. Burial will be private.
