Robert A. Long, 66, died Friday, July 22, at the Marquardt Nursing Center in Waltham. Born in Jamaica Plain, he was educated in St. Coletta's School in Hanover. He was a resident of Brockton for many years. Mr. Long worked as a clerk and bagger at Shaw's in Brockton for over 15 years and retired several years ago. He was a member of BAMSI. He was energetic and full of life and loved to smile, entertain people and have fun. In his free time, he enjoyed painting, listening to Elvis Presley music and traveling.
Mr. Long was the brother of William Long of Marion, James Long of Stoughton and the late John E. Long and Thomas D. Long. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Mary (MacLellan) Long. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. James Church, 560 Page St., Stoughton on Wednesday at 10:30 AM.
A Visiting Hour will be held prior to the Mass at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton from 9-10AM. Interment will be private. Donations in Bob's memory may be made to the Fr. Henry Marquardt Memorial Fund, POB 489, Belmont, MA 02178.
