Robert W. Leonard, 86, died Monday, July 21, 2008 at the Continuing Care Center in Hopedale. He was the husband of Elaine (Greenlaw) Leonard. Born in Boston, he was raised in West Roxbury and was a graduate of the High School of Commerce in Boston. He lived in Stoughton for 47 years before moving to Franklin in 2007. Mr. Leonard was a WWII Veteran of the US Army Air Corps. He worked as an Electrician for the MBTA for over 32 years, retiring in 1987. Mr. Leonard was a member of Local 103 Electrician's Union for over 62 years. He also taught at Coyne Electrical School in Boston for 5 years. Mr. Leonard was active with the Boston School for the Deaf in Randolph where he served on the Parents Board. He also was very involved with the Stoughton Association of Exceptional Citizens (SAEC). He thoroughly enjoyed his work and in his free time, he enjoyed reading, traveling, gardening, ballroom dancing and square dancing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Dorothy Leonard of Springfield, Barbara J. Chaperon of Franklin and Robert G. Leonard of RI. He was the grandfather of Toby Chaperon and his wife Regina, Ryan Chaperon and Shelly Chuplis. He was predeceased by his siblings: Gertrude Moore, Veronica Welch, Marion Gould, Frank, James, Leo, Joseph and Edward Leonard. He is also survived by his great granddaughter Alexis Chaperon and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, at 10:30 AM.
