Robert W. Hill, 70, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, May 20. He was the husband of 53 years of Maryann (Diaz) Hill. Born in Boston, he was educated in Stoughton schools. Mr. Hill was the founder and owner of Hill Fence Company in Stoughton for over 30 years before retiring over 5 years ago. He was a member of the Sons of Italy and Knights of Columbus Council 200 both in Stoughton. He was a longtime communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton and was the Chairman of Social Activities at the church. Mr. Hill was the former President of St. Vincent de Paul Society in Stoughton. In his free time he enjoyed golf, fishing and horseshoes. His roast beef will be missed by many.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Hill was the father of Robert J. Hill and his wife Marguerite of Brockton, Stephen M. Hill, Kathleen M. Arndt and her boyfriend Isauro Santos and William P. Hill all of Stoughton and the late Robert W. Hill, Jr. He was the brother of Kenneth Hill and his wife June of Bridgewater, John Hill and his wife Dixie of Hanson, Virginia Liss and her husband Bob of Middleboro, Richard Hill of Quincy and the late Debra Meireles and Diane Fleenor. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Tuesday, May 25 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Monday 4-8 PM. Burial will be private. Donations in Robert's name may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368.
