Robert L. Gay, 93, died Sunday, December 4, 2016 at the St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Boston, after a short period of failing health. He was the husband of Theresa E. (Blanchard) Gay for 68 years. Born and raised in Stoughton, he was a graduate of Stoughton High School. Mr. Gay was a resident of Berkley for the past 11 years, previously living in Florida for 10 years and raising his family in Brockton. He was a Proud Veteran of the United States Army and served in World War II. Mr. Gay worked as an Automobile Salesman for various area Ford Dealerships, including Dave Dinger Ford in Braintree for many years. He retired several years ago. He was a skilled handyman and jack of all trades who enjoyed working in his yard and around his home. In his free time, he enjoyed playing tennis, fishing, bike riding, dancing and doing crossword puzzles.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; Linda J. Bayne and her husband Jon and Bradley R. Gay (Linwood) all of CA, Donna R. McGovern and her husband Jeff of ME and Lisa M. Aronofsky and her husband Randy of Berkley. He was the brother of George Gay of Bridgewater and the late Leslie Gay, Edwin Gay, Marjorie Gay, Marie Lindsey and Mildred Baird. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday December 13th at 11AM. Visiting Hours prior to the services from 9-11 AM. Interment will take place at Village Cemetery, Easton.
