Robert D. Fors, 78, died Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Plymouth after a long period of failing health. Born in Framingham, he was raised and educated in Stoughton and was a graduate of Southeastern Regional Technical High School in Easton. Mr. Fors was a proud Veteran of the US Navy, served in Operation Desert Storm and was a longtime member of the US Navy Reserves. He worked as a Carpenter for several different area companies, including Polaroid, both Waltham and New Bedford, and at the Weymouth Naval Air Station. He enjoyed his work and also worked as a self employed carpenter and cabinet maker. He was a member of the Rising Star Masonic Lodge in Stoughton and the Phoenix Masonic Lodge in Hanover and served as the Past Master at both locations. He was also a member of the Viking Club in Hanover and was a Shriner. Bob had an infectious laugh and a ready smile and loved spending time with his friends and family. In his free time, he enjoyed competitive ballroom dancing, camping and digging for quahogs.

Mr. Fors is survived by his two daughters; Karen L. Fors and her partner Pamela Bogdanovich of CT and Shirley J. Fors of MN. He was the grandfather of Matthew and Nicholas Taylor, Noelle Sostre, Joshua, Shawn and Chelsea Lane, M. Scott Fors, Josef Fors and Andrew Fors. He was the great grandfather of Coda Taylor, Celia Sostre, Ava Sostre, Anja Genzler, Lukas VanLoon and Nolan Genzler-Lane. Bob was the brother of Lillian McAlpine of Lowell, William Fors of FL, Peggy Faivre of NY, Lillian Lothrop of Wareham, Retha Robichau of Taunton and the late Leonard Fors, James Fors, Susan Stoddard, Mary Baglole, Elizabeth Hadley and Robert Johnston. He is also survived by his foster children, Denise Brady Hall and Janine "Nina" Dodge, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Monday from 4-7 PM. Burial will follow with Military Honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 12:45 PM.
