Robert W. Churchill, 86, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died at home on Friday, May 20. He was the husband of the late Doris A. (Brown) Churchill. Born in Los Angeles, CA, he was a graduate of Stoughton High School, where he played both basketball and football. Mr. Churchill was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps and a Veteran of World War II. He was an Inspector Calibrator with Northrop Grumman in Norwood for over 30 years before retiring 21 years ago. He also taught chair caning and furniture refinishing at Stoughton Evening School. Mr. Churchill was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1645 in Stoughton and the Alden Society in Plymouth. In his free time he enjoyed gardening and traveling.
Mr. Churchill is survived by his children, Philip M. Churchill of Germany, Robert D. Churchill of Falmouth, Thomas S. Churchill of Tewksbury and Regina A. Churchill of Stoughton. He was the brother of Mary Brown of FL and the late Francis Churchill. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Prayers will be offered from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Tuesday, May 24 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Monday from 4-7 PM. Burial will take place at Dry Pond Cemetery, Stoughton.
