Robert E. Cato Jr., 80, died Monday, November 29, 2010 at his home in Holbrook under the care of Caritas Hospice. He was the husband of 60 years of Grace V. (Mondesire) Cato. Born in Nashville, TN, he was raised and educated in Nashville. He was a resident of Holbrook for over 38 years. Mr. Cato was a Veteran of the United States Coast Guard where he spent over 20 years and earned the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Following his retirement from the Coast Guard, Mr. Cato worked as a Longshoreman for Massport in Charlestown for over 38 years, retiring many years ago. An avid sports fan, in his free time, he enjoyed building models, fixing cars and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his family, Robert E. Cato III of Holbrook, Anthony M. Cato of MD, Marisa A. Duarte of FL and Monty A. Cato of Brockton. He was the brother of Ann Cato, Minnie Rose and Curtis Cato all of TN, Alberta of CA and the late Samuel Cato. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Funeral Services will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Monday, December 6 at 11 AM. Visiting Hours prior to the services from 9-11AM. Burial will take place at VA National Cemetery, Bourne. Donations in Robert's name may be made to Caritas Hospice, 3 Edgewater Dr., Norwood, 02062.
