Rita F. Sheehan

Rita F. (Whalen) Sheehan, 79, a resident of Carver, died peacefully at her son's home in Stoughton on Friday, May 17 surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Robert J. Sheehan. Born in Boston, she was raised in Dorchester and educated at St. Paul's School and Patrick T. Campbell High School in Dorchester. She resided in Stoughton for 30 years before moving to Carver 15 years ago. Mrs. Sheehan was a cafeteria worker at Stoughton High School for 13 years then worked as a baker at Shaw's for 19 years before retiring in 2000. She was associated with the Golden Rays and a member of the "Knit Wits" Knitting Club. She enjoyed crafts, knitting, traveling, especially to Ireland and camping all over New England.

Mrs. Sheehan was the mother of Michael J. Sheehan of S. Yarmouth and his late wife Theresa, Paul P. Sheehan and his wife Kathy of Stoughton and Stephan M. Sheehan and his wife Deborah of Carver. She was the sister of Elizabeth Nolan of Pembroke and the late Mary P. Herbert and John A. Whalen. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Wednesday, May 22 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
