Richard A. Porro

Richard A. Porro, 75, a longtime resident of Dedham, died February 13, 2017 at the NewBridge on the Charles Heathcare Facility in Dedham after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of 52 years Elaine D. (Paul) Porro. Born in Boston, he was raised in Roslindale and was a graduate of Boston Schools. He was a Veteran of the US Navy. Mr. Porro was a longtime member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 4 and a member of it's Apprenticeship Board. He was a dedicated employee of Shaughnessy Crane in Boston for several years and previously worked at Marr Equipment. He retired 10 years ago. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Porro is survived by his five children, Lisa A. Porro of Canton, Det. Richard A. Porro, Jr. of Dedham PD, John M. Porro and his wife Shannon of CA., Scott D. Porro of Dedham PD and Susan M. Porro of NY. He was the brother of Frances Marden and her husband Robert of Stoughton, Thomas Porro and his wife the late Eleanor of W. Roxbury, Elizabeth Mueller and her husband Fred of Plymouth, Gerald Porro and his wife Donna of Brockton and Alfred Porro and his wife Donna of Norwood. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton St. (Rte. 27) Stoughton, on Thursday, February 16 at 12 PM. Visiting Hours will be held prior to the Mass at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton from 10:30-11:30 AM. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
