Richard D. Parkinson, 72, died Friday, April 27, after a short illness. Born in Cambridge, he was raised and educated in Lawrence. He was a resident of Brockton for many years. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Parkinson worked as a plumber for Local 12 in Boston for many years. An avid sports fan, in his free time, he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family, friends and grandchildren.
He is survived by his two children Kathleen E. Clapp and her husband Michael of Tewksbury and Kris D. Parkinson of Stoughton. He was the brother of Joan Makos and her husband Steven of East Bridgewater, Jean Parkinson of Bridgewater and Ronald Parkinson of Avon. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Emilee Clapp, Sara Clapp and Jack Parkinson.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in the Church of the Holy Ghost, 518 Washington Street, Whitman on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 11 AM. Visiting Hours Omitted. Donations in Richard's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, for Pancreatic Cancer Research, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
