Richard J. O'Neill, Sr., 69, died unexpectedly at his home in Attleboro on Tuesday, June 23, 2015. He was the longtime companion of the late Gretchen Soehner. Born in Boston, he was raised in Mission Hill and Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton High School. Mr. O'Neill was a Veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a Broadcast Engineer for WCVB, Channel 5 in Needham for over 26 years, retiring at age 61. He was a resident of Attleboro for the past 22 years. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling, spending time in Falmouth and on Cape Cod and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his children; Richard J. O'Neill, Jr. and his wife Jaqueline of Newton, Brian E. O'Neill and his wife Christine Junge of CA, Michael T. O'Neill and his wife Ericke Schulze of W. Roxbury and Christopher M. O'Neill and his wife Lisa and Jennifer E. O'Neill and her fianc Paul Cicciu all of West Bridgewater. He was the grandfather of Emma, Liam and Brody O'Neill. Mr. O'Neill was the brother of Joseph T. O'Neill, Jr. of Portsmouth, NH, Kathleen M. Marinelli of Middleboro and the late Francis G. O'Neill and Trudy E. O'Neill. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, June 29, at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday, June 28, from 2-6 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
