Richard L. "Dick" Miller, Jr., 80, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died at West Acres Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Brockton on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 after a short illness. He was the husband of the late Dorothea M. (Ahearn) Miller. Born in Boston, he was raised in Squantum and graduated from North Quincy High School, Class of 1951. He resided in Stoughton for the past 50 years. Dick was a Private 2nd Class in the U.S. Army and a Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a salesman for Boston Gas Company for over 20 years before working as a bartender at Town Spa Pizza in Stoughton for 30 years. He retired in 2008. Mr. Miller was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 200 in Stoughton and was active in Stoughton Little League. An avid Boston sports fan, he also enjoyed going to the gym and reading his morning Boston Herald with his cup of coffee.
Dick is survived by his sons, Richard L. Miller, III of Mansfield and Michael A. Miller of Las Vegas, NV. He was the brother of Frances M. Henderson of Mansfield, James B. Miller of Plymouth and the late Mary E. Cooney and Eleanor L. Guilbault. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, June 30 at 11 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 12 PM. Visiting Hours Monday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Dick's memory may be made to the Jimmy Fund, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
