Richard N. Hughes, 82, a longtime resident of Taunton, died at Southeast Rehab. and Care Center in Easton on Wednesday, September 22. He was the husband of Sandra G. (Gregory) Hughes. Born in Boston, he was educated in Nantucket schools and graduated from Stonehill College. Mr. Hughes was a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a resident of Taunton for 30 years after living in Brockton for 25 years and Middleboro for 10 years. Mr. Hughes was a supervisor and manager at Rofor Machine in Brockton for over 30 years. He then worked at Morton Hospital in Taunton as a Geriatric Social Worker for 9 years before retiring in 2009. He was a friend of Bill W.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Hughes is survived by his children, Joseph W. Hughes of Taunton, Karen J. Hughes of Stoughton, Steven F. Hughes of Norton and Laura J. Silver of CA. He was the grandfather of April, Jeffrey, Jessica, Tyler and Colten and the great-grandfather of Felicia. He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin M. Hughes.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Tuesday, September 28 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours to celebrate his life will be Monday 5-7 PM. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
