Richard E. Hereau, 75, a resident of Stoughton, died at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on Sunday, July 13, 2014 after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Paula M. (Medeiros) Hereau. Born in Iron Mountain, MI, he was raised in Pennsylvania and graduated from Pennsbury High School, Class of 1957 in Fairless Hills, PA. Mr. Hereau lived in Stoughton for 10 years after living in Brockton for 18 years. He earned both his Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Exercise Science from Bridgewater State University. Mr. Hereau was a chemist, a photographer for International Paper, a computer programmer for the Boston Public Schools and a fitness trainer. He was a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He was a cycling enthusiast and also enjoyed walking, strength training, photography and raising Cairn Terriers.
Mr. Hereau was the brother of the late Thomas Hereau. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister-in-law, Janis Hereau as well as his nieces, Aimee and Monet, his nephew, Andre and his wife Sara and his great-nephew, Nicholas.
Funeral Service will be held from Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, July 17 at 7 PM. Visiting Hours prior from 4-7 PM. Interment will be private. Donations in Richard's memory may be made to Colonel Potter Cairn Rescue Network, c/o Danielle Rackstraw, PO Box 1354, Menifee, CA 92585.
