Richard E. Francis, 73, died at Queen Anne Nursing Home in Hingham on Wednesday, February 20. Son of the late James E. and Laura (Marble) Francis, he was born in Oak Bluffs. He was a resident of Stoughton for 40 years before moving to Hingham 8 years ago. Mr. Francis was a dock worker for Wilson Freight in Chelmsford for 10 years. He also was a taxi driver for All Town Taxi in Stoughton for several years before retiring 8 years ago. An avid Red Sox fan, he also enjoyed music and being the deejay at the VFW in Stoughton.
Mr. Francis is survived by his children, Sandra M. May of Mansfield, Robert E. Francis of Ft. Wayne, IN and Wayne E. Francis of Australia, as well as his grandchildren, Bryan May, Joshua, Steven and Melissa Francis. He was the brother of the late James and Thomas Francis. He is also survived by his former wife, Kathleen (Gundal), his niece, Paula Hutchinson and several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, March 16 at 6 PM. Visiting Hours prior from 5-6 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's memory may be made to Queen Anne Nursing Home Recreation Dept., 50 Recreation Park Drive, Hingham, MA 02043.
