Richard M. "Butch" DiGangi

Richard M. “Butch” DiGangi, 76, a longtime resident of Easton, died peacefully at BayPointe Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Brockton on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. He was the husband of the late Suzanne (Dineen) DiGangi. Son of the late Adolph J. and Janet M. (McLea) DiGangi, he was born and raised in Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1965.  He resided in Easton for over 25 years. He worked as a truck driver for Merkert Enterprises in Canton for 20 years and later at Concord Foods in Brockton for 13 years before retiring in 2017.  

Butch was an accomplished musician and one of the founders of the Lewis & Clark Expedition which became the premier show band on the East Coast. They toured nationally for over 10 years and performed in major show rooms all over the United States and Canada. He was also the Band Leader and Lead Guitar Player for acts like Duke and the Classics, Richie Dee and Ronnie Lewis and the Expedition. His musical career spanned six decades and he was considered one of the best guitar pickers in the country.

Butch was the brother of Ronald B. DiGangi and his wife Cynthia of Braintree, Deborah J. Hurley of Brockton and the late Gina Marie DiGangi Assad and her surviving husband Michael of Hanover. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, March 8 at 11 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Butch‘s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
