Richard A. Carson, Sr., 64, died at home in Taunton on Friday, July 7 after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Mary L. (Stadnik) Carson. The son of the late Victor and Helen (Meaney) Carson, he was born and educated in Boston. He was a resident of Taunton for 21 years after living in Quincy for 12 years. Mr. Carson served in the U.S. Navy from 1959-1963. He was a heavy equipment operator with the Local 4 in Boston for 40 years before retiring 2 years ago. He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed reading and traveling.

In addition to his wife Mr. Carson is survived by his children, Denise M. Kokoros and her husband Charles of Braintree, Richard A. Carson, Jr. and his wife Tracy and William S. Carson all of Taunton; his grandchildren Stephanie, Christopher, Kayla, Michael and Jennifer; his siblings, Roy of Dorchester, Kenneth of Quincy, Patsy Donovan of ME, Donna Lynch of Melrose, Edward of Weymouth, Thomas of Bridgewater, Steven of Burlington and Ellen Coulsey of Brockton and his sister-in-law, Lillian Pellegrino of Westford. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, John J. Carson.

Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, July 10 from 4-8 PM. Graveside Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's name may be made to the Dana Farber Jimmy Fund, 1 Harvard St., Brookline, MA 01246-9795.
