Richard J. Bown, 67, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at his home, after a long illness. He was the beloved husband for 36 years of Arlene F. (Welch) Bown. Born in Boston, he was raised in Roslindale and was a graduate of Charlestown High School. Mr. Bown worked as a Master Electrician at the Massachusetts Hospital School in Canton and at Massasoit Community College until his retirement in 2008. He previously worked for Motorola in Canton and Mansfield for over 18 years. Mr. Bown was a resident of Stoughton for over 36 years and was a longtime summer resident of Harwichport. Before his illness, he was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a ham radio operator, under the call name N1WII. He enjoyed coaching his sons' Little League and Youth Hockey teams. One of his proudest accomplishments was when he cycled across the country with a group of young people in the summer of 1977. He was an avid Boston Sports fan and was a former member of Wampatuck Golf Course in Canton. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Rich is survived by his two sons, Matthew E. Bown and his wife Jaclyn of Medford, and Sean C. Bown and his wife Tracy of Stoughton. He was the brother of Betty Alexander of Middleboro and the late Edward Bown and Robert Bown. He was the loving grandfather of Connor B. Bown. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday from 2-5 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
