Richard A. "Dick" Bosco, 79, died unexpectedly Tuesday, February 17 at his home in Stoughton. He was the Beloved Husband of 49 years of the late Geraldine M. (Fisher) Bosco. Born in North Dighton, he was raised in Brockton and was a graduate of Brockton Schools. He was a resident of Brockton for many years before moving to Stoughton over 12 years ago. Dick was a WWII Veteran of the United States Navy. He worked as a Meter Reader and Repair Man for the City of Brockton Water Department for 15 years before retiring at age 62. Prior to that he worked as the Head Shipper for the New England McKintosh Company in Brockton for many years. In the 1980's he was a devoted and active member of the Brockton Political Scene, working on several area campaigns.
Dick was very active at the Sacred Heart Church in Brockton, as a member of the Holy Name Society and as a Bingo Volunteer. In his later years, he was active at Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Stoughton. Over the years, he and his wife Geraldine frequented Hawaii as their favorite travel spot. In his free time, he could be found helping a neighbor, enjoying a Patriots or Red Sox game, picking blueberries, betting on his favorite greyhound or just tinkering around. He could always be found with his trademark unlit cigar.
He was the loving father to his four daughters: Kathleen M. Partsch of VT, Joyce M. Bosco of NC, Annette M. Burdick of Brockton and Cheryl A. Bosco of GA. He was the brother of Emmett Bosco of Brockton, Samuel Bosco of Freetown and the late George Bosco.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Monday at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday 2-5 PM. Burial will be private. Donations in Dick's memory may be made to American Heart Assn., 20 Speen St., Framingham, 01701.
