Richard J. Barry, 64, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died at his home on Sunday January 15, 2012. He was the loving husband of 38 years of Sheila A. (Liberman) Barry. Born in Boston, he was raised in Roslindale and was a graduate of Bridgewater State College (B.A.) and Suffolk University (M.Ed.). He was a veteran of the United States Army and worked as the Educational Administrator of the GI Bill for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for many years. An avid sports fan, in his free time he enjoyed reading, watching the Red Sox and Patriots and driving with his dog Cashew. In addition to his wife, he is survived by their two children, Janine R. Barry of Easton and Craig R. Barry and his wife Sandy of Braintree. He is also survived by his sister Patricia Ryan and her husband Joseph of Pembroke; his brother Gerry Barry and his wife Janice of Lakeville; and several loving in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of Richard's life will be held in the Chapel of Mary at Stonehill College, 320 Washington St., Easton on Saturday January 21st, at 1pm. Donations in his memory may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368.
