Raymond P. Anderson, 67, died unexpectedly on Monday, July 29, 2024, after being stricken ill at his home in Natick. Born in Brockton, son of the late Carl and Elizabeth (McNeil) Anderson, he was raised and educated in Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1976. He later returned to school and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Stonehill College in 1997. Ray was a longtime administrator at the Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston, spending over 45 years employed at the hospital. During his long career at Tufts, he made lasting friendships and touched the lives of his coworkers and patients daily. His coworkers were more than just coworkers, they were like family to Ray. He spent time as an administrator in the Pathology Departments and was currently a respected member of the Radiology Oncology Department.
As a young man, Ray began playing the organ and it became his true passion, enjoying the melodies and serenity of the music. He loved playing the organ and enjoyed sharing his talents and an organist at several area churches, including St. John the Evangelist in Canton, the First Baptist Church of Whitman, St. James Church in Stoughton and most recently, at St. Michael’s in Avon. He also enjoyed spending time with his family reminiscing with his brother, Bob, about times gone by and with his nieces, Lori and Kristen, and the stories of their younger days at Grandma and Grandpa's house and more recently about the things going on in their lives. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends talking, traveling and quietly supporting them as they supported him.
Ray is survived by his brother, Robert C. Anderson and his wife Phyllis of Framingham and his nieces, Kristen and Lori-Beth Anderson. He is also survived by a close friend Patrick McGuire of W. Newbury.
Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 9:30-11 AM followed by Funeral Prayers at 11 AM.
