Ralph E. "R.E.B." Bednarik, 82, a resident of West Yarmouth, died at the McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich on Sunday, August 16. He was the husband of Sandra (Poole) Bednarik. Born on Governor's Island, New York City, he was raised and educated in Stratford, CT and graduated from Clark University in Worcester. He was a resident of West Yarmouth for over 15 years, previously living in Worcester. Mr. Bednarik was a Navy Veteran of World War II and was stationed in the Pacific. He was an Engineer for Wyman Gordon in Worcester and was plant manager of the Grafton Plant before retiring many years ago. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed bowling, playing poker and watching the Red Sox and Patriots.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Bednarik is survived by his children, Daniel Bednarik of CT and Kathy Mitchell of Worcester, his step-children, Scott M. Adams and his wife Bridget of Marstons Mills and Thomas G. Adams of RI and his granddaughter, MacKenzie L. Adams. He was the brother of Helen LaCroix and Alan Bednarik both of CT and the late Catherine Frederiksen, John Bednarik, Jr., Robert Bednarik and Betty Jastermsky.
Graveside service will be held at the VA National Cemetery, Connery Ave., Bourne on Monday, August 24 at 11:30 AM. Visiting Hours omitted. Donations in Ralph's name may be made to McCarthy Care Center, 73 Service Rd., E. Sandwich, MA 02537 or charity of your choice.
