Porfirio DaSilva, 56, of Stoughton died peacefully at his home Wednesday, August 7, 2013 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was the loving husband of Maria F. (Belo) DaSilva for 33 years. Born in Faial, Azores, Portugal, he was educated in Flores, Azores before moving to the United States in 1980. Mr. DaSilva was a Veteran of the Portuguese Army. He worked for 30 years for Shaw Glass Company and was in the Painter's & Allied Trades Union. A talented handyman, in his free time he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, most especially his granddaughter.
In addition to his wife, Mr. DaSilva is survived by his children and their families: Sandra M. Hawes and Patrick I. Hawes of CT, Elizabeth M. DaSilva of CA, Paula C. DeAndrade and Marcio H. DeAndrade of Taunton and Porfirio F. DaSilva of Stoughton. He was the beloved grandfather of Briana L. Hawes. He was the son of Maria da Luz Baptista Gambao and the late Porfirio DaSilva. He is also survived by his sisters: Rosa Pinto of CA and Ana Paula Silva of Flores and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Saturday at 9:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton, at 10:30AM. Visiting Hours Friday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
