Philip W. Johnson, 78, died Thursday, April 16, 2015 at the Hearthstone at Heights Crossing in Brockton after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Carol H. (Hutchins) Glidden of Stoughton. Born in Boston, he was raised in Stockholm, ME and educated in Stockholm and Stoughton Schools. He was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Wentworth Institute and Northeastern University. Mr. Johnson worked as an engineer at Factory Mutual in Norwood for over 40 years. He retired at age 62. He was an active member of the Joy In Christ Lutheran Church in Abington. In his free time, he enjoyed boating on Lake Winnipesaukee, photography and trains.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his step children; Cheryl (Glidden) Cupoli and her husband Kevin of Stoughton, Steven Glidden and his wife Sheila of E. Bridgewater, Scott Glidden and his wife Laurie of W. Bridgewater and Brian Glidden and his wife Diane of Weare, NH. He was the brother of Inda A. Stora of NY and Harold R. "Dick" Johnson of Stoughton. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held in the Joy in Christ Lutheran Church, 21 S. Bedford St., (Rt. 18) Abington on Friday at 11 AM. Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. . Donations in his memory may be made to the Joy in Christ Church Memorial Fund at the above address or to the Gentiva Hospice, 400 Hemenway St., Suite 4064, Marlborough, 01752.
