Peter J. Silva, 65, a longtime resident of Weymouth, died at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth on Tuesday, April 22 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Linda S. (Welch) Silva. Son of the late Manuel and Eleanor (Costa) Silva, he was born in New Bedford and raised in Stoughton. Peter was the Class President of the Stoughton High School graduating Class of 1967. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from UMass-Amherst and his Master's Degree from Suffolk University. He resided in Weymouth since 1977. Mr. Silva taught Physical Education for the Hull Public Schools for over 30 years before retiring 13 years ago. He also owned Dairy King in Rockland for 13 years. He enjoyed baseball, softball, working in his yard, traveling, playing cards and especially spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Peter is survived by his children, Heather M. Silva of Weymouth and Lt. Peter J. Silva, Jr., USN and his wife Stephanie of Weymouth, as well as his sisters, Nancy A. Flack of Oriskany, NY, Jean D. Pina and her husband Fred of Brockton, Shirley O. Scibetta of Stoughton and E. Patti Dupuy and her husband David of N. Easton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Saturday, April 26 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Friday from 4-8 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter's memory may be sent to the Michael J.
