Peter Madonna
Beloved Father
6/26/1927 - 11/29/2010
I was a twinkle in your eye
A gift from God for you to love, nurture, protect and encourage
your daughter
I am the one you held as a baby,
Made giggle and smile.
The one you watched grow from an infant, to a toddler, to a teen
To a women, to a wife and mom
I am the one you stood by during all of my life
For the good moments and the bad.
For the happy times and
The sad.
You helped me through them all
I am the one you taught to be kind, caring, loving, compassionate
Giving and understanding
The one you encouraged to reach for stars, and work hard
And to believe in myself.
Your daughter
I am the one, who bandaged your wounds when needed,
Held your hand through times of
Happiness and sadness in your life.
And was there when you needed me.
Your daughter
I am the one you walked down the aisle and gave away
To man you knew would always love me
Be there for me, and care for me No matter what.
A man who you also loved
And who loves you
I am the one who watched you in wonder
As you showed your pride in your grandchildren
And encouraged and loved them as you did me,
Your daughter
I am the one who over the past few years
Watched as you started to show and feel your age
And needed me to be there in a different way than before.
You gave me the strength to stand by you when you needed me most.
I am the one who held your hand
And stood by your side watching as your
Health began to fail.
As hard as it was to see,
I felt compelled to stay with you as long as I could
Never wanting to let you go,
But knowing it was just your physical body I was Letting go
Not your spirit
Now I am the one who has to say so long
Not goodbye
Because I know that you will always be with me.
And when my time comes to leave
And I enter the gates of heaven
You will be there waiting for me.
I love you more than words can ever say
And will miss you terribly.
Your daughter
Marianne
