Peggy D. (Pestana) Caratazzola, 92, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died Tuesday, March 9. She was the wife of the late Anthony Caratazzola. Born in Stoughton, she was a graduate of Stoughton Schools. She was a resident of Stoughton for many years, before moving to Bridgewater several years ago. Mrs. Caratazzola worked as a seamstress for Shawmut Mills and Garland Mills. She retired several years ago. Mrs. Caratazzola was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary and the Portuguese National Club both in Stoughton. She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton and St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Bridgewater. She was a longtime volunteer at the New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton and the VA Hospital in Brockton. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, reading, dining out with family and friends and watching sports.
Mrs. Caratazzola is survived by her son, Paul A. Caratazzola and his wife Dennise of Bridgewater and her granddaughter, Leah Caratazzola. She was the sister of Angie Denny of Walpole and Eva Webster of Stoughton.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Friday, March 12 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday 4-7 PM. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Peggy's name may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02072.
