Pearl E. (White) Martins, 79, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2016 in Hanson after her third bout with cancer. She leaves behind her loving husband Richard "Dickie" Martins of Brockton. Pearl was the daughter of the late Charles and Edna (Erickson) White. Pearl was born and raised in Stoughton and lived the last couple decades in Brockton, but the years in between found her living in California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas and visiting many other places. She was a resilient woman, always doing whatever was necessary, always up for a new adventure or challenge. After decades of working as a nurse's aide, she went back to school for her GED so she could get her nursing license, and worked in a number of nursing homes in both California and Massachusetts, including St. Joseph's Manor in Brockton and the Copley at Stoughton in Stoughton. Pearl was an avid fan of knitting afghans while watching TV, listening to country music, especially Elvis, and watching the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. She was a lover of the underdog, and especially thrilled when an underdog came out on top. She was happiest when giving things to others and rarely let anyone leave empty handed.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her loving children: Kathleen (O'Donnell) Lehmann of Hull; Maureen (O'Donnell) Twomey and her husband Jim of Hanson; Lawrence O'Donnell and his wife Thelene of FL; Patrick O' Donnell and his wife Maritza and Scott O'Donnell all of CA; Christina (Morganelli) Gallagher and her husband Tim of Arlington; John Morganelli of CO and step-son Richard Martins Jr of West Roxbury. Additionally she had 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, all of whom were very precious to her. She was the sister of June Audlee of Stoughton, Robert White of Taunton, Walter White of RI and William White of ME. She was predeceased by her siblings Evelyn Fortier, Priscilla Cataldo, James White, John White and Charles White, Jr.
Funeral Prayers will be offered in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, January 4 at 4 PM. Visiting Hours prior to the Prayers from 1-4 PM. Donations in Pearl's memory may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital. 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
