Paul J. Reed, 70, died at the Copley at Stoughton Nursing Home in Stoughton on Thursday, October 12 after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Mary (McGrath) Reed. Born in Chelsea, he grew up in Winthrop and was educated in Winthrop schools. He was a resident of Stoughton for 31 years. Mr. Reed was an U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Local 17 Sheet Metal Workers Union in Boston for 35 years before retiring many years ago. He was a member of Thorny Lea Country Club and loved golfing.
In addition to his wife Mr. Reed is survived by his nieces, Valerie Cohen and Lisa Mooney and his nephew, Paul Reed. He was preceded in death by his brother, Francis Reed.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, October 16 at 9:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:15 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday 2-5 PM. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Stoughton. Donations in Paul's name may be made to Joslin Diabetes Ctr., 1 Joslin Place, Boston, 02215.
