Paul McCarthy, 51, died Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at his home in Stoughton after a battle with ALS. Son of the late William F. and Jeanne F. (Cusack) McCarthy, he was born in Boston, raised and educated in Hyde Park and graduated from Hyde Park High School. Mr. McCarthy was a resident of Weymouth for over 20 years before moving to Stoughton 3 years ago. He worked at the Stop & Shop Warehouse in Readville and Assonet for many years and retired due to his illness. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 25 in Boston. In his free time, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, spending time at the beach, walking, music and sports. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his children and family.
He is survived by his children, Paul Edward McCarthy of Weymouth and Bridget E. McCarthy of Boston and their mother and Paul's good friend Kathleen (Gleavy) McCarthy of Weymouth. He was the brother of William McCarthy and his fianc Denise of Dedham, Karen M. Burke, John McCarthy and Suzan B. Nicholson and her husband Richard, all of Stoughton, Anne Marie Johnson and her husband Thomas of Franklin, Terri A. Golden and her husband Dennis of Norwood, Robert McCarthy and his wife Beth of Milford, Kevin McCarthy and his wife Cathy of Mansfield. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday, July 17, 2014, from 4-8 PM. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Donations in Paul's memory may be made to Compassionate Care ALS, P.O. Box 1052, West Falmouth, MA 02574.
