Paul MacKinnon, 61, died Saturday August 13th, 2022 at the home of his sister under the care of Beacon Hospice after a long battle with cancer. Born in Stoneham Ma. he was raised and educated in Somerville. He was a proud veteran of the US Army serving 13 years, some in Special Forces. Upon his Honorable Discharge he began working at the Cambridge Health Alliance in Cambridge for many years and retired a few years ago. Paul loved his family deeply and adored his two daughters. He looked forward to his beloved family vacation every year in York Beach Maine where as a youngster he learned to surf. He was always the "lifeguard" for the children of the family keeping a close eye on them in the water as he taught them to catch the waves. Known as Donuts to his friends of Bill W. he formed close connections with many. He was known for his ability to make people laugh and put people at ease with his sense of humor.
He is predeceased by his mother Rosemary and father John. He is survived by his two daughters Kaleigh J MacKinnon of Abington and Abigail MacKinnon of Stoughton, brother to Denise MacKinnon of Brockton, Debra MacKinnon of Salem and Jacqueline MacKinnon of Wakefield, stepson to Joyce MacKinnon of Winchester, Uncle to Kindreth Scarfo of Belmont, Patrick Schrage of Brockton, Sean Schrage of Brockton and Erin Pelham of Taunton. He is also survived by many loving grand nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be held in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Bourne on Monday, August 22, 2022 at 10:45AM.
