Paul F. LaVerghetta, 89, of Stoughton, formerly of Dedham, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2015 with his family by his side at Life Care Center of West Bridgewater after a period of declining health. He was the husband of Laura (Bottari) LaVerghetta and would soon have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.
Born in Vasto, Italy, Paul immigrated to the United States in 1939 at the age of 14. He served his country as a SeaBee during World War II while stationed in Guam. Paul was a true craftsman and took great pride in his carpentry skills. During his career he built custom homes and later in his career worked as a Union carpenter constructing many buildings in the greater Boston area. Paul loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He asked for so little but gave his family so much!
Although encouraged often by his family to return to Italy for a visit to his place of birth, Paul's reply was always "Why would I want to do that? This is the greatest country in the world!"
In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by a son, Paul J. LaVerghetta and his wife Elizabeth of Norton; a daughter, Diane Boucher and her husband Arnold of East Freetown and four granddaughters, Kristen, Jaclyne and Elizabeth Ann LaVerghetta and Nicole Boucher-Gurney and her husband Josh. Paul was the brother of the late Nicholas LaVerghetta.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the loving and caring staff at Life Care Center of West Bridgewater.
Funeral Service will be held from Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, June 11 at 11 AM. Visiting Hours prior from 9:30-11 AM.
