Paul F. Donovan, 81, died Thursday, February 9, 2012, at his home in Brockton, under the care of Old Colony Hospice, after a period of failing health. He was the husband of 52 years of Joanne P. (McDermott) Donovan. Born in Boston, he was raised and educated in Boston and a graduate of Commerce High School. Mr. Donovan also attended Bentley College. He was a resident of Brockton since 1970. For over 20 years, he worked at Giannaros Liquors in Brockton. He retired several years ago. Mr. Donovan was very active in Brockton as a basketball coach, CCD Teacher and coach in the North Little League for many years. A history buff, he enjoyed talking politics and was an avid Boston sports fan, especially the New England Patriots. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Donovan is survived by his children, Maryann D. Clifford and her husband Richard of Marshfield, Paul F. "Chip" Donovan, Jr. and his wife Laura of West Bridgewater, Jeanmarie Foley and her husband Robert, Christine J. Donovan and Karen M. Donovan-Chismer and her husband Robert Chismer all of Brockton. He was the beloved "Papa" of Abby and Olivia Clifford, Keri, Meghan and Ryan Foley, Alyson and Riley Donovan and Tyler and Emily Chismer. He was the great grandfather of Kaedyn Foley.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Wednesday, February 15 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Brockton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday from 4-8 PM. Interment will take place at Melrose Cemetery, Brockton. Donations in Paul's memory may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368.
