Paul A. Carter, age 92, a longtime resident of Stoughton, passed away at the VA Medical Center in West Roxbury on August 27, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Adeline M. (Struzziero) Carter, and was survived by his partner, Patricia Johnson, with whom he spent 7 years. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Mary E. (Prada) Carter, and was raised and educated in Braintree, where he played football and graduated from Braintree High School, Class of 1950. Paul enlisted in the Navy and spent 4 years in Naval Air during the Korean War Era, serving in Guantanamo Bay, and finishing his career on the USS Salerno Bay. He was proud of his time dedicated to his country. He was a top salesman at Premium Beverage in Avon before retiring in 1994. Upon his retirement, he worked for Enterprise Rent-A-Car in West Bridgewater. He was a former member of the Sharon Country Club for 25 years, staying involved in the community. He was an avid Boston Sports Fan. Above all, he enjoyed spending any time he could with his family, and will be greatly missed.

Paul is survived by his children Gary P. Carter and his wife MaryAnne of Stoughton, James R. Carter and his wife Cheryl of Burlington and David A. Carter and his wife Patricia of Bourne. He was the Papa to 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and was predeceased by his siblings Adrian Carter and Harry Carter.

Funeral will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park Street (Rt. 27), Stoughton, on Thursday, September 5 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, 560 Page Street, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place following the Mass at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:15 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (https://www.stjude.org/donate).
