Paul S. "Boofy" Bishop, 75, died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 14 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was the husband of 56 years of Bette A. (Jordan) Bishop. Born in Stoughton, he was a lifelong resident and a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1954. Mr. Bishop was a Master Brick & Stone Mason for over 50 years, retiring 12 years ago. He was an active member of the Stoughton Community as a Town Meeting Representative for over 20 years and a member of the Stoughton Historical Society. He was a former coach and active supporter of the Stoughton Little League and a member of the Town Hall Renovation Committee. He was an avid gardener and a jack-of-all-trades. Above all, he was known for his love of his family.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Bishop is survived by his children, Wendy Hines and her husband Michael, Pamela Bishop, Paul Bishop and his wife Ann, all of Stoughton, Michael Bishop and his wife Patty of East Bridgewater and Peter Bishop of Bellingham. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Pauline (Stoddard) Bishop and his siblings Jeanne Jefferson, Helen Lapworth, Charles E. Bishop and Ronald H. Bishop. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Saturday, June 18 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Friday from 5-8 PM. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Boofy's memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
