Paul A. Barnes, 49, died unexpectedly Monday, April 27, at the Brigham and Women's Hospital after being stricken ill on Friday. He was the Beloved Husband of 23 years of Dana L. (Welsh) Barnes. Born in Norwood, he was a lifelong resident of Avon and a graduate of Avon High School, Class of 1978. He also attended UMass Amherst. He recently enrolled in the Andover Newton Theological School in Newton. Mr. Barnes worked as a shipper & receiver for several area businesses, including WW Grainger, the Christmas Tree Shop and C & P Architecture in Boston. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Stoughton. His true passion was his work with area youth groups. For over 25 years, he was a youth leader at the Hancock United Church of Christ in Lexington and then at Avon Baptist Church in Avon.
Mr. Barnes was the son of the late Arthur P. Barnes and Doris A. Wilkinson. He was the son in law of Jean Welsh of FL and the late Harvey Welsh. He is also survived by his brother in law of Harvey Welsh Jr. and his wife Catherine of FL and the uncle of Melissa, Andrew and Allison Welsh. He is also survived by his 4 cats.
Memorial services will be held in the First Congregational Church, 76 Pierce St., Stoughton, 02072 on Saturday, May 2 at 11 AM. Visiting Hours omitted.
