Pastor Abraham “Abe” Bascon, a longtime resident of Bridgewater, previously of Stoughton and Brockton, age 81, passed away peacefully at his home in Bridgewater on December 22, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was the dear husband to Marcia S. (Cady) Bascon for 55 loving years and the father of 12. Born in Cebu, Philippines, he was the son of the late Severo Bascon and Agnes (Uyetake) Bascon, coming to the States when he was 5 years old, where he was raised and educated in Oahu, Hawaii. Abe met Marcia in 1967, and they were married in 1969, relocating to Massachusetts where they raised their family. He was a master mason by trade for over 40 years. Along with being a mason, he also dedicated his life to God where he served as the Pastor of The Word of God Church in Brockton for over 50 years. He was committed to sharing his faith with all those that he encountered. He had many interests such as feeding the birds, tending to his garden and fruit trees, taking long walks and sitting out in the sun. He was an avid Boston sports fan, especially loving his New England Patriots. He enjoyed watching documentaries about different cultures of food from around the world. His favorite pastimes were fishing and crabbing, but mostly loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife Marcia, Abe is survived by his children Scot Hulgan and his wife Felicia of CO, Lisa Stewart and her husband Kevin of CO, Missy Bascon-Cohen and her husband David of Stoughton, Courtland Bascon and his longtime significant other Dina Pitsos of CA, Aaron Bascon and his wife Alexis of Nahant, Suzannah Columbus and her husband Jonathan of Bridgewater, Liz Tripp and her husband Matthew of Bridgewater, Abraham Bascon and his wife Sarah of CA, Joshua Bascon and his wife Kellie of Marshfield, Benjamin Bascon and his wife Ashley of Hingham, John Bascon and his wife Jenna of CA, and Malia Carr and her husband John of Bridgewater. He was the “Papa B” to 35 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. He was the brother to Santos Ramos and Barbara Reyes and was preceded in death by his siblings Brenda Allen and Severo Bascon, Jr., and leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
