Palmira G. (Goncalves) DeSousa, 92, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at the BayPointe Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in Brockton. She was the wife of the late Joao A. DeSousa. Born in Flores, Azores, Portugal, she was raised and educated in Flores. Mrs. DeSousa came to the United States in 1973 and settled in Stoughton. She was a dedicated homemaker, mother and grandmother. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, cooking and spending time with her family.
Mrs. DeSousa was the mother of Jose Marcelino Sousa, Maria Costa and Palmira Sousa all of Stoughton, Maria Filomena Fraga of Portugal and the late Joao Antonio Sousa. She was the sister of the late Maria Melo, Filomena Pimental, Margarida Freitas, Jorge, Jose, Francisco and Carlos Goncalves. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her grandson, Mark Joseph Fraga. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday at 9:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
