Ora L. (Green) Callender

Ora L. (Green) Callender, age 89, passed away Monday December 16, 2024, at LifeCare Center of West Bridgewater, after a long period of declining health. Born in Dumas, AR, daughter of the late Alfonzo and Beatrice (Jenkins) Green, she was educated in Hot Springs and Little Rock and was a graduate of Langston High School in Hot Springs, AR. In 1958, she married the love of her life, Godfrey Callender, in Boston and together they enjoyed over 63 years of marriage and raised four beloved children. They made their home in Stoughton since 1974. Ora was a dedicated homemaker, wife and mother who also enjoyed working at Polaroid in Norwood in the processing and testing division. She retired many years ago. She was a devoted longtime member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Boston for many years, was a member of the Women’s Guild and served as the Treasurer for the Seniors Group for several years. Ora was a gifted seamstress and enjoyed traveling, ceramics and tending to her beautiful flower garden. Above all, she loved being surrounded by her loving family.

Ora is survived by her children, Myron B. Callender and his wife Barbara of Springfield, Arniece L. Callender-Boudreaux of Stoughton, Stacey L. Alleyne and her husband Herb of Easton and Terence K. Callender of Stoughton. She was the sister of Mary F. Mitchell of Dorchester and the late Alfred McClinton. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Monday, December 30, 2024 from 10 AM-11 AM followed by Funeral Service at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton at 1:00 PM.
