Odette M. (Tondini) Greene, 79, died Wednesday, January 11 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late George E. Greene. Born in Longwy, France, she was raised in France and lived in Occupied France during WWII. A War Bride, she met her husband George, a US serviceman, while he was stationed in France. Mrs. Greene moved to the US in 1946. She was a resident of Stoughton since 1961. She worked as a French Teacher and Assistant Director for the Berlitz School of Language in Boston for over 15 years, retiring in 1975. Mrs. Greene was an award winning artist who enjoyed painting. She was a member of the Stoughton Art Association for over 30 years and had a studio at the Felos Art Center in Stoughton for many years. In her free time, she enjoyed camping in Denmark, Maine and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was an avid Red Sox Fan.
She is survived by her children: George E. Greene Jr. of Oveido, FL and Yvette B. Kelliher of West Roxbury. She was the sister of the late Marcel Tondini. Mrs. Greene is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Friday 5-8 PM. Donations in Odette's name may be made to the Joslin Diabetes Clinic, 1 Joslin Pl., Boston, 02115. Burial will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
