Nazario Tarzan Lopes, 64, a resident of Easton, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Rosa (Sousa) Lopes. Son of Lidia (Sacadura) Morais of Portugal and the late Serafim Lopes, he was born and raised in Cape Verde. He was educated in Cape Verde and then graduated from Northeastern University in Boston. Nazario was a resident of Easton since 1999, after living in Avon for 14 years and Stoughton for 11 years. He was a mechanical engineer for Nidec/Power General in Canton for over 30 years before retiring 2 years ago. Mr. Lopes was an avid soccer player, having played for Academica in Sao Vicente, Cape Verde. He was a member of the Benfica Soccer Club. He loved music and was a well known musician. He was a member of Club Luis de Camoes in Stoughton.
In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Lopes is survived by his children, Christine A. Lopes Metcalfe and her husband Scott of Jamestown, RI and Christopher S. Lopes of Easton. He was the brother of Antonio Martins Silva and Paula Almeida both of Cape Verde, Paul Lopes and Dulcina Morais both of Attleboro, Alcina Corbett of Easton and the late Cliofas M. Lopes. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, December 21 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday from 2-5 PM. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in Nazario's memory may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
