Nancy A. (Walkus) Pires, 74, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Sunday, July 19, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Anthony "Butch" Pires. Born and raised in Brockton, she was a graduate of Brockton High School, Class of 1959 and Chandler Secretarial School in Boston. Nancy was a teacher's aide at North Elementary School in Stoughton for many years. She then worked in the Operations Department at BayBank and Bank of America before retiring. Mrs. Pires was a longtime member of the YMCA in Easton and loved walking, gardening, reading and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Nancy is survived by her sons, Michael A. Pires of Stoughton and David J. Pires of Philadelphia, PA, as well as her grandchildren, Olivia, Austin and Arabella Pires all of Charlotte, NC. She was the sister of Joan M. Barrett and her husband Robert of Easton and the late Peter A. Walkus. She is also survived by her aunt, Mabel Silveri of Norton and her nephew, Brandon P. Walkus of Halifax.
Funeral will be held from Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Friday, July 24 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday from 5-8 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy's memory may be made to American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
