Nancy E. (Chapman) Ivaldi, 83, died Friday, February 16, 2018, at the Nemasket Health Care Center in Middleboro after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Edward W. Ivaldi, Sr. Born and raised in Stoughton, she was a lifelong resident of Stoughton and a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1952. She worked as a bookkeeper for her family business, Ivaldi Motors in Canton, for several years, before opening a home day care. Mrs. Ivaldi was a longtime active member of the First Congregational Church in Stoughton and participated in several church activities, including the Choir, the Handbell Choir and the Icebreakers. She was also very active with the Cub Scouts, Pack 57 in Stoughton. Mrs. Ivaldi was awarded the most distinguished service award from the Boys Scouts, the Silver Beaver Award, for her dedication to Scouting. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and in 1976 was awarded the Stoughton Mother of the Year. She was also a member of the Olde Stoughton Musical Society, the Order of the Rainbow and the Red Hat Society. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing piano and baking.
Mrs. Ivaldi is survived by her five sons; Edward W. Ivaldi of Bridgewater, Robert E. Ivaldi of Stoughton, Brian W. Ivaldi of OR and Steven F. Ivaldi and Glenn A. Ivaldi both of Stoughton. She was the sister of Joyce Lindelof of ME and is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27), Stoughton on Monday, February 19, from 4-7 PM. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Congregational Church, 76 Pierce St., Stoughton on Saturday, April 7 at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Dry Pond Cemetery, Stoughton.
