Michael J. Olszak

Michael J. Olszak, 57, passed away on September 26, 2013 after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his family. Born in Boston, he was raised and educated in Brockton and was a graduate of Cardinal Spellman High School in Brockton. He also was a graduate of Northeastern University and earned his Master's Degree in Criminal Justice from Anna Maria College. Mr. Olszak was a Veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a Police Officer in the City of Brockton for over 18 years, retiring in 1998 due to an on-duty injury. He was a member of the Brockton Police Association and the Brockton Police Honor Guard. An avid fan of the Boston sports teams, he enjoyed attending games with his children and spending time with his family and friends.



He is survived by his children; Michael J. Olszak, Jr. of S. Boston, Carole A. Olszak of Mansfield and John F. Olszak of Taunton. He was the longtime companion and fiancé of Christine Sprague of Holbrook. He was the brother of Geraldine Sweetman of Holbrook. He was the son of the late John and Mary Olszak (Potalkewicz) and brother of the late Carol Kostas, Marie Mascheri, John Uberti and Frank Uberti. He is also survived by his former wife Kathleen Olszak-Theobald, her husband John Theobald, Jr. and their son John Theobald III. Michael is also survived by a large extended family including Michael Quirke, Crystal Quirke, Jason Padon, and several nieces and nephews



Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Wednesday at 8:45 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Bridgewater at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday from 5-8 PM. Interment will take place at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 12:30 PM.
