Michael S. Foley, 65, died suddenly Saturday, December 23, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. Born in Boston, he was raised in Dorchester in St. Margaret’s Parish. After graduating from high school, he entered the US Army and proudly served for three years, and in the Reserves for six more. After his honorable discharge, he returned home and joined Roofers Union Local 33, following in his father’s footsteps. He was a longtime dedicated member of the Roofers Union and was influential in the recruiting and development of younger members and served as a mentor to many. He finished his career with the Roofers Union as a Business Agent where he continued to be a mentor.
In 1994, he married Cynthia R. Piatelli, and together they raised their two beloved daughters, Andrea and Gina. Mike was a devoted father to them both. Whether it was going to the movies, playing cards on a Sunday afternoon, or helping family and friends with little projects here and there, Mike was always the first one you would call.
Mike was a father figure to many of his nieces and nephews whom he treated like his own children. He was tireless in donating his time and talents to his family and friends. Mike was an active member of 24 South in West Bridgewater, a devoted group dedicated to recovery and helping others. He was a friend of Bill W.
In addition to his wife Cynthia (Piatelli) Foley, he is survived by his two loving daughters, Andrea Foley and her fiancé Tom Gammell, Gina Foley and his Grand-Pup Rosey. He was the brother of Patricia McCarthy and her late husband James of FL, Dolly Powers and her late husband Joe of NC, Frances Skerritt and her late husband George of Bridgewater, Helen Valente and her husband Sal of Wakefield, Maryann Doherty and Susan Foley, both of Quincy and the late William, Joseph, John and Stephen Foley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, whom he loved so much.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 4-7 PM. Funeral Prayers will be offered on Thursday, January 4 at 11 AM. Due to floral limitations at the cemetery, Mike’s family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to 24 South, 320 West Center St., West Bridgewater, MA 02379 or by calling 24 South at 508-857-5135 to make a donation.
